CheckShop for Lightspeed eCom

For shops on Lightspeed eCom (C-Series, formerly SEOshop). Show the free CheckShop trust mark and your latest reviews in your shop, and send every customer a review invitation once their order has shipped.

Show the trust mark

The trust mark is free on every plan and needs no API key. It shows your score and reviews and links to your public CheckShop profile.

  1. 1In your Lightspeed admin, open Settings > Web extras. In some admin versions Web extras sits directly in the left menu.
  2. 2In the Custom JavaScript box, paste the code below with your own domain instead of yourshop.com, and switch the box on.
  3. 3Click Save. The mark shows in the bottom-right corner of every page.
<script src="https://checkshop.eu/badge/v1/loader.js" data-shop="yourshop.com"></script>

Your dashboard shows this code with your domain filled in. To place the mark somewhere else, add data-position="bottom-left", or see the badge guide for every option. Styles other than the default card come with the badge designer, from the Starter plan.

Show your latest reviews

The reviews widget is free as well. Put the code where the reviews should appear, for example in a text block of your homepage (switch the editor to HTML) or in your theme's templates under Design > Advanced, if your theme allows editing.

<div data-checkshop-reviews data-limit="3"></div>
<script src="https://checkshop.eu/reviews/v1/loader.js" data-shop="yourshop.com"></script>

Create an API key

Invitations need a Lightspeed API key, so CheckShop can hear about your orders and read the customer's e-mail address.

  1. 1In Lightspeed, go to Settings > Store settings > Developers.
  2. 2Click New API key, name it CheckShop and save.
  3. 3Give the key read access to Orders and Settings, and write access to webhooks if Lightspeed lists them. Save.
  4. 4Copy the API key. Click Show next to the API secret and copy that as well.
Lightspeed offers API keys on its larger plans. If Lightspeed refuses a key you copied correctly, your plan may not include the API. You can still show the trust mark, and send invitations by hand from the Reviews page of your dashboard.

Connect and send invitations

  1. 1Open Dashboard > Connections > Lightspeed eCom.
  2. 2Choose your region: Europe if you log in at …webshopapp.com/admin, North America if you log in at …shoplightspeed.com/admin.
  3. 3Paste the API key and secret and choose when invitations start: when an order is shipped (recommended) or paid (for downloads and tickets).
  4. 4Click Connect. CheckShop checks the key and adds one order notification (a webhook) to your Lightspeed shop. You don't copy any URL.

From then on, every shipped (or paid) order sends the customer an e-mail with a link to review your shop, in the language of the order. Reviews from these links are marked as verified purchases. To wait a few days first, set the waiting time in Settings; the customer is reminded once after seven days if they have not reviewed yet.

Plans and limits

Free sends up to 10 invitations a month, Starter up to 25, and from Pro there is no limit. Invitations from the dashboard and from other connections count toward the same monthly total. See pricing.

Privacy and data

  • Trust mark and reviews widget: the visitor's browser loads the CheckShop script and your shop's public data. No order or customer data is sent.
  • Invitations: for each shipped or paid order CheckShop reads the order number, the customer's name, e-mail address and order language from Lightspeed, and uses them only to send the invitation.
  • CheckShop stores your API key and secret to read orders. Disconnecting deletes them and removes the order notification from Lightspeed. You can also delete the key in Lightspeed at any time.

See the CheckShop privacy policy.

Questions

Lightspeed refuses my key, but I copied it correctly.
Check the region first: if you log in at …webshopapp.com/admin your shop is on the European cluster, at …shoplightspeed.com/admin on the North American one. If the region is right, your Lightspeed plan may not include API access. Lightspeed support can tell you which plans do.
Do I need the Lightspeed App Store?
No. The connection uses an API key you create yourself, so it works today without an app.
A customer bought twice. Do they get two invitations?
No. CheckShop skips an order it already invited, and the same e-mail address within seven days (or ever, if you invite each customer once, in your dashboard settings).
I switched from “paid” to “shipped”. Is the old notification still active?
No. When you update the key or the moment, CheckShop removes the notification it added before and adds a new one.
What happens when I disconnect?
CheckShop removes its order notification from your Lightspeed shop and deletes the key and secret it stored. Invitations already sent stay valid.
