  2. 2Click Install Now and then Activate. WooCommerce must be active.
  3. 3Go to WooCommerce > Settings > CheckShop.

Upgrading from version 1.0.0 (called “CheckShop.eu — Trust Badge & Reviews”)? Deactivate and delete the old plugin first. Your settings are kept.

Show the trust mark

The trust mark is free for every shop and needs no account or API key. It shows your current score and reviews and links to your public profile.

  1. 1Check the Shop domain. By default the plugin uses your site's own domain; change it if your shop is listed on CheckShop under another domain.
  2. 2Choose the placements: Floating trust mark (a corner of every page, or only the shop pages) and Mark on checkout (below the checkout form, classic and block checkout).
  3. 3Click Save changes.

To place the mark yourself, use one of these:

  • the CheckShop trust mark block in the block editor;
  • the CheckShop trust mark widget;
  • the shortcode [checkshop_badge].

Style, size and theme apply to every placement. Besides the card there are horizontal, slim bar, minimal, round, bubble, sticker and star row styles, and three page-wide styles: a header strip, a side tab and a bottom bar. The page-wide styles take the place of the floating mark; blocks, widgets, shortcodes and the checkout then show the card.

The Preview on the settings page shows the mark with the style, size and theme you pick, before you save. It shows every style, marked “Preview”. On the Free plan your shop shows the default card; the other styles and the dark theme come with the badge designer from Starter, and the preview tells you when a style needs it. Prefer to place it without the plugin? See the badge guide.

Show your latest reviews

The latest-reviews widget is free on every plan and needs no API key. It shows your shop's newest approved reviews on CheckShop, with stars, the reviewer's name and a “Verified” mark for verified purchases, and links to all your reviews and to write one.

  • the CheckShop reviews block in the block editor, with its settings in the block sidebar;
  • the CheckShop reviews widget;
  • the shortcode [checkshop_reviews].

The shortcode takes these optional attributes:

  • limit: number of reviews, 1 to 12 (default 3);
  • min_rating: lowest star rating shown, 1 to 5 (default 4);
  • theme: light or dark;
  • title: your own heading. Leave it out for CheckShop's heading in your visitor's language;
  • compact: true for shorter review texts.

Example: [checkshop_reviews limit="5" theme="dark" title="What our customers say"]. The widget shows reviews for the shop domain in the plugin settings, once CheckShop has checked and listed your shop. Until there are reviews with the minimum rating, it links to your profile and to the review form.

Review invitations

After an order is completed, CheckShop can e-mail the customer a link to review your shop. Reviews from invited customers are marked as a verified purchase.

  1. 1Copy your API key from your CheckShop dashboard.
  2. 2In WooCommerce > Settings > CheckShop, tick Send invitations, paste the API key and choose the Days to wait (0 to 30).
  3. 3Click Save changes, then Check connection. It shows which shop and plan the key belongs to.

Each order gets a CheckShop review invitation box: scheduled, sent, or not sent with the reason CheckShop gave. A Send invitation now button sends it straight away.

The plugin sends invitations with your API key, which works on every plan. Free sends up to 10 invitations a month, Starter up to 25, and from Pro there is no limit. Invitations from the dashboard count toward the same monthly total.

Privacy and data

  • Trust mark:the visitor's browser loads the CheckShop script and your shop's public badge data (name, score, rating, review count) from checkshop.eu. No order or customer data is sent.
  • Latest reviews:on pages with the reviews block, widget or shortcode, the visitor's browser loads the CheckShop reviews script and your shop's latest public reviews from checkshop.eu. No order or customer data is sent.
  • Review invitations:only when they are switched on. For each completed order your site sends the customer's name, e-mail address and order number to CheckShop, which uses them only to send the invitation.
  • The plugin adds suggested text to your privacy policy (Settings > Privacy) and registers WordPress's personal data exporter and eraser for the invitation details on orders.

Questions

The trust mark does not show. Why?

The mark only shows for a domain CheckShop knows. Check that the shop domain in WooCommerce > Settings > CheckShop is the domain on your CheckShop profile. On a local or staging site, enter your live shop's domain.

Why does my mark look like the default card?

On the Free plan CheckShop always shows the default card. The other styles, sizes and the dark theme come with the badge designer, from the Starter plan.

An order says “Invitation not sent”. What now?

The CheckShop box on the order shows the reason CheckShop gave, for example that the monthly limit of your plan is reached (10 on Free, 25 on Starter). Fix the cause, then click “Send invitation now”.

Will a customer get more than one invitation?

No. The plugin sends one invitation per order, and CheckShop skips customers or orders it already invited.

Does the plugin slow my shop down?

The trust mark is loaded by a small script after your page has loaded. Invitations are sent in the background by WooCommerce's Action Scheduler, not while the customer waits.

What happens when I delete the plugin?

Its settings are removed and pending invitations are cancelled. The invitation status on existing orders stays, as part of the order history.
